Since 1987 – w orks in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Had occupied various diplomatic positions in the central body of the ministry and abroad.
From 2001 to 2005 – General Consul of the Russian Federation in the Geteborg (Sweden). Having huge executive experience in various fields of public service, Bessonov G.I. has participated in attraction of foreign investments into the Russian economy, construction and reconstruction of objects of the real estate abroad for many years.

He has drafted multiple restructuring and optimization plans concerning the financial aspects of companies ’ functioning. Graduated from the Ural Electromechanical Institute for Railway Engineers, specialising in “Electrification of Railway Transport” in 1981. In 1997, he received his second higher education (in economics) from the Ural State Academy of Railway Transport, he went on to become a Candidate of Economics and Doctor of Technical Science.
Started his career as a power grid engineer and worked his worked his way up to head engineer of Sverdlovsk Railway. He then worked as deputy, then first deputy minister of communications, Sverdlovsk Railway manager, Director of the Department for Integrated Infrastructure Development at Russia's Ministry of Transport, Deputy Minister of Transport and Director of the Department of the Industry and Infrastructure of the Government of the Russian Federation.
